Nationally leading expertise in gastrointestinal cancer
As the Clinical Director of Stereotactic Radiotherapy (SABR) at GenesisCare, I lead the UK’s busiest and most innovative advanced radiotherapy service for people with metastatic (secondary) cancer and have a personally treated hundreds of patients with tumours of all kinds in the liver, lung, spine/bone, node, pancreas and other organs, including the latest techniques such as CyberKnife and MRI-guided radiotherapy.
I work closely with leading surgeons to offer rapid, coordinated treatment plans for early stage colon and rectal cancer. This might involve combinations of chemotherapy, radiotherapy and surgery at safe and accessible private hospitals.
We always strive to achieve the best possible chance of cure with minimum long-term treatment complications.
Getting it right first time for people with more advanced cancer is crucial. Leaving no stone unturned is also very important.
My philosophy is to fully personalise treatment by using the latest drug and radiation treatments, surgery where appropriate, and evidence-based lifestyle modifications to help people live as long and as well as possible.
I have pioneered the use of MRI-guided stereotactic radiotherapy for inoperable and metastatic (secondary) forms of pancreatic cancer, and have extensive experience of combining this with chemotherapy and other drug treatments to prioritise quality of life and maximise life expectancy.
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and bile duct/galbladder cancers (cholangiocarcinoma) are often complex, with multiple treatment options ranging from stereotactic radiotherapy (SABR) and immunotherapy to liver transplant. It’s therefore critical that you have access to a highly experienced team that considers every possible treatment option. The liver unit in Birmingham is among the most innovative and experienced in Europe, and I have more experience integrating SABR with other treatments than any other UK oncologist.
